Do heat pumps work in Toronto winters?

Yes. Cold-climate models produce heat well below Toronto's −20°C design temperature; many are rated to −25°C to −30°C.

How long does a heat pump last?

15–20 years with annual maintenance, similar to a central AC.

Will my hydro bill go up?

Your electricity use goes up and your gas or oil use drops or ends. The net depends on what you heat with now; we show both on your quote.

A cold-climate ducted heat pump replaces both your furnace and central air conditioner, delivering heat through your existing ducts down to −25°C or colder. In most GTA homes it's a 2–4 ton system, installed in 1–2 days, at a typical cost of [$12,000–$22,000] before rebates.

Is your house a good fit?

You have ductwork and a furnace or AC that's 12+ years old.
Your electrical panel has room for a 30–40 amp circuit (we check this on the visit; a panel upgrade adds [$2,000–$4,000]).
Your ducts are sized well enough to move air quietly. We measure static pressure before quoting, not after.

What we do differently

Room-by-room load calculation (CSA F280). We size from your home's actual heat loss, not the old furnace's label. Oversized heat pumps short-cycle and feel clammy.
Cold-climate models only. Every unit we quote is on NRCan's qualified list and keeps producing heat well below Toronto's −20°C design temperature.
Backup heat, stated plainly. If your home needs electric or gas backup on the coldest nights, the quote shows the switch-over temperature.
Snow and ice detailing. Units sit on stands or wall brackets 18–24 inches above grade, out of roof drip lines.
